So the first drop of this new adventure is upon us - DROP UM.
I named it that because, to be honest, there’s no string of thought or story that ties it all together, besides my own.
I’ve been wearing hats pretty much every day for the past 18 years, so I’ve put more than my 10.000 hours in.
It’s not just an accessory to me. It’s part of me. It’s a must. As a matter of fact, most people won’t even recognize me without a hat on, so it only makes sense that I start with hats.
It’s funny because the very first product I released through Against All Odds way back in 2014 or so was actually a hat, so this feels like a full circle moment.
If you really Love headwear, then you know that it’s all about one thing - shape. The way it fits and sits on your head.
Few things make me feel as good as putting on a fresh new hat that fits just right and looks good from every angle. That’s how I feel wearing the hats from this first drop, and how I hope they’ll make you feel as well.
I went through a wide range of samples to make sure that I got the shape and details just right. That they fit perfectly with sunglasses on (one of my personal issues). That they feel comfortable for hours. That they’ll age beautifully.
But going back to shape - I have this obsession with angles. I Love it when the angle between the front panel and the brim is almost at 90°, so this was my main concern, and I’m extremely happy with the results.
Shape was also the reason why I didn’t do the production in Portugal. I tried achieving my dream shape several times here, but it just seemed impossible, so I looked for manufacturers in China and, well, you’ll see the results for yourselves soon.
Side bar - I got the contact for that first hat manufacturer back then through Hussein, one of Daily Paper’s founders. I just went up to him at one of their pop-ups in Berlin during fashion week and asked him if he had any contacts and he gave me the email address to their own manufacturer. But I digress, as usual.
Summing things up - this first drop will be composed by three snapbacks that spawned from ideas and feelings, and I can’t wait to share them with you.
